Huntington Library & Norton Simon Museum of Art, 12/6

In the 10th grade award-winning thematic unit, The Rise of Reason: Transforming Social, Politcal, and Scientific Paradigms through the Ages, our Humanitas sophomores are studying the transformative power of great ideas.  From the Greek philosophers Plato and Aristotle, the Enlightenment thinkers such as Locke, Voltaire, Montesquieu, and Rousseau, to Cell Theory scientists Schleiden, Schwann, and Virchow, great thinkers and philosophers have worked to shape our world.  On Thursday, December 6, Humanitas Sophomores will visit the Norton Simon Museum of Art and the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens to experience seminal works of art, literature, and science that have had a profound impact on cultures past and present.
